It is the most famous tourist place in Amritsar; the central religious place of the Sikhs. The architecture of the temple is unique. It has four entrances which signifies that people from all walks of life are welcome into the shrine. The upper half of the temple is made of copper which is plated with gold, hence the name "Golden Temple". It is a must visit place when in Amritsar.
Central Sikh Museum
This place educates us very well about the sacredness, culture, and contribution of Sikhs in our country. This place reserves some priceless monuments, unique pencil sketches made by Princess Bamba, ancient manuscripts and coins, and musical instruments used by ancestors of the Sikh community. It doesn't fail to impress the tourists and gives them an insight of undiscovered facts about Sikhs.
Jallianwala Bagh
This place is known for a historic event that took place here in 1919. Our country at that time was still under the British Rule. This public garden is a memorial for the 1000's of innocent Indians who were shot to death on the auspicious day of Baishaki Festival. The colourful event turned out to become a massacre. One can see the Martyr's well, where people jumped in to save their life, marks of bullets fired against innocent people, and also stroll through the beautiful garden.
Wagah Border
People in large numbers visit this place to witness the Beating Retreat Ceremonies, gate closing ceremonies and lowering of flags of India and Pakistan. These are some of the great events that happen on a daily basis. This is the one single post where our Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers perform vibrant patriotic activities.
